Margaret Salcido

A service of remembrance for Margaret Pachan Salcido, 55, of Anoka and formerly of Eagle Bend, will be held on Friday, November 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Clarissa. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 3 from 5-8 p.m. (rosary and prayers at 7 p.m.) and one hour prior to the service. Margaret passed away on October 29, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Margaret was a dedicated nurse with the Long Prairie Nursing Home, where she made countless friends. She enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing, needlework and spending time with family and friends.
Margaret is preceded in death by her father John Pachan; brother Tom; and her children’s father Pedro Salcido.
She will be deeply missed by her children Sonia (Elijah) Maronga, Chris (Jennifer) Salcido, Judy (Maurice) Salcido; mother Dorothy Pachan; siblings John (Kari) Pachan, Steve Pachan, Jim (Jennifer) Pachan, Reina Pachan; grandchildren T.J., Dylan, Elijah, Katie, Torrence, Andrew, Brayden, Alex, Anna and Austin; many aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends.

 

Herbert Johnson

Funeral services for Herbert Milton Johnson, 88, of Hewitt and formerly of rural Aldrich, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, at the Balsamlund Lutheran Church, rural Aldrich, with Pastor Del Moen presiding. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Herb passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Tri-County Hospital in Wadena.
Herb was born on July 9, 1923 to Fred J. and Ida Evelyn (Westberg) Johnson at their home in Bartlett Township. He graduated high school and spent his lifetime in Todd County as a dairy farmer. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the Hewitt Senior Center. He was also an active member of Balsamlund Lutheran Church as a member of the church board and cemetery board. He enjoyed reading the newspaper and playing cards, especially at the family Christmas gatherings, reunions and picnics.
Herb was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ida Johnson; sister Ethel Klebs; nephews Jon W. Johnson and Dayle Klebs; and niece Patsy Klebs.
He is survived by his brother Rodney (Janet) Johnson of Aldrich; 10 nieces and nephews; and many friends. He is also survived by his caregivers for the past 14 years Juanita and Rick Mitchell; their sons Luke (Kellie) and Michael; grandchildren Taylor and Cameron, who always called Herb “Grandpa”; and the staff at Peaceful Valley Home in Hewitt: Martina Hendrickson, Jackie Allen and Carol Pugsley.
Pallbearers will be Darwin Johnson, Gary Bern, Craig Jasmer, Duane and Daniel Klebs and Luke Mitchell.
Interment will be in the Balsamlund Lutheran Cemetery, rural Aldrich.

 

Mabel Dupey

Mabel Dupey, 87, of Sauk Centre and formerly of Eagle Bend and Staples, passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2011 at St. Michael’s Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mabel Evangeline Dupey was born on March 14, 1924 in Irondale Township, Crow Wing County, to Arthur and Flora (McGuire) Dupey. After her father’s death, she moved into the home of Sam and Mary Dettinger in Eagle Bend, and sometimes went by the Dettinger name. Mabel attended the Eagle Bend Public School until the eighth grade. After Sam and Mary’s deaths, she continued to live with their daughter, Ruth.
In 1985, Mabel moved to the Mary Rondorf Home in Staples and was employed at the Todd County DAC in Browerville. She moved to Ottertail Lake Residence in Battle Lake in 1993 and worked at Productive Alternative, Inc. When the Ottertail Lake Residence closed in 2001, she moved to the Central Todd County Care Center in Clarissa. She remained there until June of 2009 when she relocated to St. Michael’s Nursing Home in Sauk Centre.
Mable was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clyde, Donald, Clarence and Pat Dupey; her foster family Sam, Mary and Ruth Dettinger.
Private interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, rural Eagle Bend.
